Georgia Ray - Psychologist
Georgia Ray is a qualified Psychologist with ten years working experience in both forensic/criminal and clinical psychology. Georgia gained her Bachelor and Honours Psychology qualifications in Brisbane at the University of Queensland (UQ) and then moved to Sydney to complete her Masters in Forensic Psychology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). After working in corrective services, she found a passion for helping people manage their mental health in a more general sense.Parenting and Child BehaviourOne of Lisa's special interests is training and coaching in the area of parenting and child behaviour. She works with parents to provide simple, practical suggestions to assist families to manage the challenges of parenting.
Eight years ago, Georgia started her own highly successful private practice in Sydney due to the fulfilment she gained through working with adults, adolescents and couples. Georgia then returned to the Sunshine Coast with her husband and two young children once she realised that home was where her heart was. The past year, Georgia has passionately worked in drug and alcohol rehabilitation, in addition to eating disorder recovery and gut/mental-health nutritional programs. Georgia also has a strong desire to support both mums and dads in the perinatal period of life, given her first-hand experience with the difficulties of motherhood.
Georgia values trust, empathy and a good sense of humour! She ensures respect, safety and acceptance and defines her approach as "non-judgemental and individualistic" - tailoring her treatment style to meet the requirements of each client's needs. Over and above her knowledge of therapies, Georgia has found the relationship with the client to be the most important factor in determining treatment success.
