Regan Smith - Psychologist
Regan Smith is a qualified Psychologist who is passionate about supporting people most vulnerable in our communities and has particular interest and experience working with young people, people with sexuality and gender diversity issues (LGTBTIQ+), prevention and treatment of eating disorders and body image issues, deliberate self-harm management and suicide prevention.
Regan has completed a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Psychology, and has spent the last several years working with adolescents and young people across a number of issues. She has recently become a registered service provider with the Sunshine Coast Eating Disorders Access Trial, and is competent in delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to create positive outcomes for individuals and the community.
Regan has an easy going and engaging approach to therapy and offers a safe and caring space for all clients. She values trust, empathy and a good sense of humour! She ensures respect, safety and acceptance and defines her approach as "non-judgemental and individualistic" - tailoring her treatment style to meet the requirements of each client's needs. Regan has found the relationship with the client to be the most important factor in determining treatment success.
Regan also has a strong desire to support parents in the perinatal period of life, given her first-hand experience with the difficulties of motherhood, and will be offering her services to the perinatal team, as well as, working with our adolescents and young adults.
