About Ebony
15 Years of Clinical Experience, Led by EMDR and a Genuine Commitment to Healing
Ebony Fitzell is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working across both the public and private sectors. Based at the Maroochydore clinic with telehealth sessions available on Wednesdays, she brings a deeply compassionate and evidence-based approach to her work with adults across a wide range of presentations. Ebony is a trained EMDR practitioner and proud member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) — a professional body that reflects her commitment to high-quality, specialist trauma therapy.
Ebony's clinical work is anchored in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as her primary therapeutic tool for trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma. She has seen first-hand how transformative EMDR can be — helping clients process distressing memories that have been stuck for years, often in a fraction of the time that traditional talk therapy requires. Alongside this specialty, Ebony maintains a deliberately varied caseload, working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, perinatal mental health challenges, and the psychological dimensions of living with chronic health conditions. This breadth keeps her practice rich and responsive, and ensures she brings a fresh, engaged presence to every session.
Ebony's approach is grounded in the belief that every person carries within them the capacity for meaningful change. She works collaboratively with her clients, building a therapeutic relationship characterised by genuine warmth, clinical rigour, and deep respect for each person's unique history and strengths. Whether a client is processing the weight of past trauma through EMDR or working through the day-to-day challenges of anxiety or low mood, Ebony meets them where they are — with patience, skill, and a genuine belief in their ability to heal.
Therapeutic Approach
EMDR-Led, Evidence-Based, and Individually Tailored
Ebony draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic frameworks, with EMDR as her lead and primary specialty for trauma and PTSD. She selects and tailors her approach to each individual client, always guided by what the evidence — and the person in front of her — suggests will be most effective.

The Person Behind the Clinician
Ebony's Approach to Care
"Therapy is not about fixing people — it is about helping them reconnect with the strength and wisdom they already carry within them."
Ebony brings a quiet but unmistakable warmth to her clinical work. She is the kind of clinician who makes clients feel genuinely seen — not just heard, but truly understood in the full complexity of their experience. With over 15 years of experience across public and private settings, she has worked with an enormous breadth of presentations and life circumstances, and that depth of experience shows in the confidence and care she brings to every session.
She is particularly drawn to working with clients who are navigating the long shadow of past trauma — those who have found ways to cope and function, but who sense that there is a deeper layer of healing available to them if they can find the right support. EMDR has been a transformative tool in this work: she has witnessed clients process memories that have haunted them for decades, often finding relief within a handful of sessions that years of other approaches had not achieved. Her trauma-informed approach means she never rushes this process, always working at the pace that is right for each individual.
Outside of her clinical work, Ebony is committed to ongoing professional development — staying at the forefront of evidence-based practice and bringing the latest research and clinical insights to her work with clients.
