About Ebony
20 Years of Clinical Experience — Integrative, Evidence-Based, and Genuinely Person-Centred
Ebony Fitzell is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of clinical practice supporting adults and older adults through a wide range of life challenges. Based at the Maroochydore clinic with telehealth sessions available on Wednesdays, Ebony takes an integrative, evidence-based approach — tailoring therapy to each person's unique needs and goals. She draws on a range of proven therapies including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness and body-based therapeutic approaches.
Ebony's primary areas of clinical interest include anxiety and trauma, PTSD, perinatal mental health, health psychology, and addiction and substance use. Alongside these specialties, she maintains a varied and fulfilling caseload that includes mood disorders, stress and burnout, grief, anger management, and adjustment to life changes. This breadth keeps her practice rich and responsive — and ensures every client receives care that is genuinely tailored to where they are right now.
In addition to her clinical work, Ebony is a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor (STAP trained and accredited), supporting the professional development of the next generation of psychologists. She is a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPI) and is committed to ongoing professional development, staying at the forefront of evidence-based practice throughout her career.

EMDR-Led, Evidence-Based, and Individually Tailored
Ebony draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic frameworks, with EMDR as her lead and primary specialty for trauma and PTSD. She selects and tailors her approach to each individual client, always guided by what the evidence — and the person in front of her — suggests will be most effective.

The Person Behind the Clinician
Ebony's Approach to Care
"Therapy is not about fixing people — it is about helping them reconnect with the strength and wisdom they already carry within them."
Ebony is a warm and thoughtful person whose natural curiosity about people and their stories is at the heart of everything she does. With more than 20 years of experience, she brings both deep professional knowledge and a grounded, human presence to her work. Her years across both public and private settings have given her a broad perspective on the many ways life can challenge people — and this experience is reflected in the calm confidence and care she brings to each session.
Ebony values authenticity, kindness, and creating a space where people can feel safe enough to explore change at their own pace. She is particularly drawn to working with clients who are navigating the long shadow of past trauma, the complexity of chronic illness, or the challenges of addiction — those who sense that deeper healing is available to them if they can find the right support. In addition to her clinical work, she is committed to ongoing professional development and enjoys supporting the next generation of psychologists through supervision and mentoring.
Outside of psychology, Ebony will jump at any chance to be in the ocean. When she is not catching waves, she enjoys growing veggies, raising chickens, and embarking on adventures with her family.
